8kg Heat Pump Smart Dryer
Dry with intelligence | AI Dry System
Enjoy quick and more precise drying¹ with AI Dry technology with 8 sensors. By continually sensing the temperature and humidity of the clothes in the drum it intelligently controls and optimises drying performance while being gentle on clothes
9-star energy rating | Heat Pump Technology
Heat Pump Technology offers a gentle and energy-efficient way to dry clothes. It has an impressive 9-star rating for energy efficiency because it uses a ‘refrigerant’ to heat the air, instead of electricity. It also recycles air to help reduce energy usage.
Dry small loads in 35 mins | Quick Dry²
No time to waste? The Quick Dry cycle gets a small load of clothing dry and ready to wear in just 35 minutes²
Intelligent Drying | AI Control
Dry laundry easily and effectively with AI Control. The Heat Pump personalises drying by remembering your habits, suggesting cycles and displaying timely information. The SmartThings App³ provides advice on cycles, planning and troubleshooting. When paired with the matching Samsung washer, it selects the perfect drying course for a wash cycle⁴ with Auto Cycle Link
Opens how you want | Reversible Door
Choose the direction that the reversible door opens to suit the layout of your home. You can simply change which side the door opens to suit your preference or location
Minimise wrinkles | Wrinkle Prevent
Reduce wrinkles and save time on ironing. Simply select Wrinkle Prevent and, once the drying cycle ends, it intermittently turns the drum without heat for up to 180 minutes. This helps prevent clothes from resting in one place for too long while they are hot and reduces creases on the fabric
Easy maintenance | 2-in-1 Filter
Maintain your dryer easily and optimise drying performance and safety. An innovative Two-in-One Filter has a two-layered mesh filter. So there’s no need for a Heat Exchanger filter, making it easy to maintain. Two alarms also remind you when the Filter and Heat Exchanger need cleaning
Durable performance | Digital Inverter Technology
Digital Inverter Technology utilises strong magnets for a quiet and powerful performance. By eliminating the use of brushes, it provides outstanding durability – backed by an 11 year warranty⁵

Why Buy?
Smarter drying that saves energy and protects your clothes
The Samsung DV80T5420AB is an 8kg heat pump dryer that reads each load with built-in sensors, so you get clothes dried properly without the guesswork of a fixed timer.
Eight sensors track the temperature and moisture in the drum throughout the cycle, adjusting drying time so jumpers and delicates come out ready to wear rather than shrunken or still damp. If you are in a rush, the Quick Dry cycle handles a small load in around 35 minutes, and Wrinkle Prevent keeps tumbling the drum gently for up to three hours after drying finishes, so clothes are easier to fold and need less ironing. The two-in-one filter also cuts down on maintenance, with alarms letting you know when a clean is due.
Because it uses heat pump technology instead of a standard element, this dryer carries a 9-star energy rating, which keeps running costs lower load after load. The brushless Digital Inverter motor runs quietly and comes with an 11-year warranty, and the reversible door means you can set it up to suit whichever way your laundry opens. Pair it with a compatible Samsung washer and the SmartThings app can line up the right drying course automatically.
Buy this if…
- You want a heat pump dryer with a genuine 9-star energy rating to keep power bills down
- Your household washes a mix of delicates and everyday clothes and wants sensor-driven drying instead of a timer
- You often need a small load dried quickly rather than waiting on a full cycle
- You prefer a quieter laundry with a long-warrantied, brushless motor
- You already have, or plan to buy, a matching Samsung washer for linked, app-guided cycles
