Inverter Linear Compressor

Inverter Linear Compressor

With less vibration, moving parts and noise than a conventional LG compressor system, the 454L fridge adds to the range of Australia’s first bottom mount 4½ star energy rating fridges. As the Inverter Linear Compressor is the heart of your refrigerator we back this with a *10 year parts warranty on the compressor.
*2 Years parts and labour on the product + 3 years on sealed refrigeration system (compressor, evaporator, dryer and tubing) parts only + 5 years on compressor (part only).

Door Cooling

Door Cooling

Air vents located in the front ceiling of the fridge direct cold air onto items stored in the top door baskets. Door cooling starts 15 seconds after the doors are closed.

The LG Inverter Linear Compressor helps maintain the appearance and taste of fresh produce by reducing internal temperature fluctuations.

It's okay, but GB-455UPLE is better value
Replaced my 2 year old Hitachi with this, and honestly I don't feel like it was much of an upgrade, certainly in terms of build quality. Only replaced because wanted a bottom-mount and the Hitachi was a top-mount.

I chose this over the GB-455UPLE version (which is $300 cheaper) because I was told the front was stainless steel, had the better veggie crisper, and had the clever shelf. Truth is, all of those things exist, but they are done cheaply and doesn't justify the additional price. I'm not even sure it is actually stainless steel, and if it is, it must be nano thin, because the front dents and scratches SO easily. I can actually press my finger on the door and it flexes. Old Hitachi felt much more robust.

Doors on the LG are recessed on the side, which makes this annoying to open. Also means I can't fully push the fridge back in its unit space, otherwise I can't get my hand in to open the door. I have to pull it out about 4cm. Shelf positioning is okay, but struggled to find somewhere to fit bottles of beer or large Pasta sauce jars. Not a huge fan of the blue internal light, the LCD screen just tells you what you've temp you want it to be, not what it actually is internally - and you only have 3 preset temperatures to choose from anyway, so not sure why I need an LCD screen to show me that.
Frankly, $800 for this fridge is about right. Paying over a thousand, and you start to feel that it should be better. It is pretty quiet though, arguably more quiet than my previous fridge. I like the the "door open" charm, and the freezer is on the bottom where it should be - but all those features exist on the cheaper model. Will probably buy a Mitsubishi next time.
