Best Brand ever
After purchasing another brand gps from a local retail ( biggest waste of time) i spent all day downloading maps then unaware I had to also download software. This took me all day,as well as numerous phone calls back and forth, and couldn't even get an address of a housing estate which is 2 years old. I rang the company. This address also isn't on their data base and was told I would have to wait for the next '' up dates'' in 3-6 months time! I also rang Tom Tom, the address also wasn't on their data base either. So both these units are not ''up to date". They are at least 2 years behind! What do I do in the mean time?? I went and purchased this Garmin unit. Very easy for me to pick up and just do what I needed to do. Even an Australian voice for directions which is great. To make things better the address I was after in the new housing estate, was in this GPS even before I updated it! Took me 20 mins to fully update, so easy and simple, no DVD to download . I will never go back to Navman or Tom Tom again.

Very good so far.
I bought this Drive 50LM to replace a very old Tomtom unit. The first thing I noticed is that the Garmin maps are much more accurate and its route planning is far better and more logical. Also its screen is bright enough to be visible in the brightest summer sunlight. The user interface is typically Garmin, intuitive and very easy to use.
On the down side, the speed limit alert instantly triggers even 1km/h over the limit, and the warning sound is so soft it's often inaudible over road noise. The Tomtom was much better in that respect.
