Which Cooktop Should You Buy?
It might be very confusing to face so many different kinds of cooktops in a website, as there are so many types to choose from in a market. You find yourself wondering, 'Which cooktop is right for me?' But worry not, that's why we're here. Here's a guide to the different kinds of cooktops and why they will or will not work for you.
How Important is Temperature Control?
If you are a professional cook and need your temperature to be 'just right', then the old fashioned gas cooktop might be best for you, as it allows you to control your flame and bring it to a precise temperature. A large gas cooktop can support many burners at the same time, all going at high heat. They can be made to use either Natural Gas, or LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas).
Does Safety Come First?
If you worry about open flames and would prefer to take no risks, then induction cooktops may be perfect for you, as they heat up your pans electromagnetically. They also make use of electricity, but the difference lies in the fact that they heat up the cookware directly, through conducting coils, and less energy is lost in the process. Though your pots and pans would need to be metal for them to be compatible with induction cooktops, the surface of the cooktop remains cool even while you are cooking, enabling you to clean or touch the cooktop at any time. This is a good option if you are not used to cooking regularly, or have small children in the house.
What's Your Budget?
If you're on a tight budget, or have no access to gas lines in your house, then the electric cooktop may be your best option. Since they use electricity, you don't have to worry about gas bills. They also usually come with a number of other functions, such as electric grills. They also bake and roast food more evenly, which is great news for perfectionist cooks. They are easier to clean than gas stove tops as well. Though it's true that gas cooktops are easier to temperature control, having an electric cooktop also means you won't have to worry about fires or gas leaks.
Where Does Lifestyle Come In?
Electric Hotplates are great if you don't cook very often at home, live alone, or go to college. They are portable, much cheaper, and consist of plates which heat up. They can be made of ceramic, die cast metal, electric coil, stainless steel, or tempered glass. Our electric hotplates can heat up in a matter of minutes and don't lose heat intensity very soon. Their portability gives them an edge over larger cooktops and they are also easy to clean. They come with cast iron stainless steel plates and have a range of temperature settings to choose from. If you're the kind that lives in a shared apartment or goes camping every weekend, having an electric hotplate might be the right option for you.
Types Of Cooktop Products
These kinds of cooktops make it easy for you to see the flame and they as well have a wide range of temperature settings. Many people have been known to prefer this type because of its ability to control temperature with an immediate effect. It is also recommended for high temperature cooking.
A large gas cooktop can support many burners at the same time, all going at high heat. They can be made to use either Natural Gas, or LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). During high heat cooking such as searing, high heat can be achieved just immediately you start cooking and when the burner is switched off only little heat remains stopping cooking almost immediately. These ones are more expensive than the electric ones but they are also easy to operate.
These types of cooktops are able to maintain constant and even heat. In addition to this, you can also maintain low heat according to your preference which can prove to be difficult while using gas cooktops. There are also conventional electric cooktops which come in two styles; standard exposed coil burners or with a smooth ceramic glass top. You can get the first type with less money but it heats up quickly. Even the exposed coils are very vulnerable to spills and in order to avoid this you can buy an easy access drip pan to help you if there are any spills. After that you can remove it and clean it.
Electric induction cooktops
This is the latest of all cooktops and it is also the most expensive. This one uses electromagnetic energy technology which heats the cookware and not the surface itself. This type of cooktop is more energy efficient than the conventional coil heating system. Due to the fact that heat is confined to the cookware this makes it possible for food to heat quickly. One disadvantage with this type is that it does not work with some kitchen materials such as copper or aluminum. Steel or Iron cookware is required.
