User Manual Photo Fun Book Editor

After installation of the Photo Fun Book Editor click on the icon Photo Fun Book Editor on your desktop to start the program. Once you have started the program you will be asked to either open an existing project or create a new one.

Directly after starting the program this screen will appear.You have two options:

  • Either Create a new product (make a new album or calendar).
  • Select an existing product (select a file from the provided list and open it)



Step 2: What product do you want?

If you have chosen to create a new product there are several options to choose from. Carefully check out the products before commencing.

When you have selected the product of your choice click on next to continue.

It is also possible to change the product throughout the project by selecting "convert" from the file menu. The Editor will save all your pictures and open up the new selection without requiring you to start from the beginning.

The program is supplied without backgrounds. These can be downloaded for free by clicking on “show more backgrounds from the internet”. Select the background you want to use. Not all products have backgrounds. If there are no backgrounds for the product you have chosen you will get a notification stating there are no background available.

You can also choose to use your own background image by clicking on the link at the bottom of the dialogue box.

During the retrieval of the background a connection is made with the internet. After selecting a background choose “complete” to continue compiling your album.

If you are not yet sure which background you want to use choose any background. Through the lay-out menu you can always change the background at a later stage.

This tool is an easy and quick way of compiling an album with your selected photographs. Afterwards you can manually add, remove or move photographs. If you want to select all photographs in one go choose yes and go to step 6. Choose "No" if you want to manually add the photographs one by one, continue to step 5.

Select the folder

Select the file on your computer where you have saved your pictures. They will be shown automatically in the overview. Photo Fun Book will not change your original pictures, regardless of the changes you make in the Photo Fun Book Editor.

Place/move pictures

On your screen you will now see pages with picture frames. Select a picture on the right hand side of the page with your mouse. Keep the left mouse button pressed and drag the picture to your chosen frame on one of the pages. Release the mouse button and the picture will automatically be placed in the frame.

Once you have placed a picture in one of the frames you can move it to another frame. Click with your left mouse button on the picture you want to move and drag it to one of the other frames.

Note : The picture filename will be highlighted so you can see it has already been used. You can place a picture more than once. Move pages while saving the lay-out.

Changing the order of pages

Depending on the product, you can change the page order.

To move a page click outside the picture frame. Keep the left mouse button pressed and move the mouse between to other pages. A green bar will appear between the pages. Now release the mouse button to move the selected page.

Step 5: Adding Text

Adding text

Double click with the left mouse button on the textbox underneath the picture, the word processer will be opened. You can choose from different fonts, sizes and colours.

If the text gets too big for the selected frame the text cannot be added. This also applies to the height of the text.

With the align option you can align the text as you wish.


Linked texts

Pictures and texts are linked. If you move a picture to a different frame the accompanying text will also be moved. Not all text boxes are of the same size, therefore it is possible the text no longer fits. In that case the word processor is opened automatically so you can amend the text.

Step 5: Page lay-outs

Each product has a large range of lay-outs. If you want to change your lay-out click on the desired lay-out in the lay-out screen with the left mouse button and drag it to the desired page.



Take note!

If you change the lay out of a page where pictures have already been added, the pictures will need to be arranged according to the new lay-out. However, if the new lay-out contains less frames you will get a warning that one or more pictures will be removed from the lay-out.

Doubleclick on a picture in a frame with the left mouse button to make an open the edit window. Select the area you want to print with the left mouse button.

If you do not select the option “keep relation of frame” the proportions of the picture frame will not be respected, and the image will only partially fill the frame

A yellow triangle at the bottom right hand side of the picture means the print quality is deteriorating. You can solve this by making a larger cropped version or by placing the picture in a smaller frame.

A red triangle at the bottom right hand side of the picture means the print quality is bad. You can solve this by making a larger cropped version or by placing the picture in a smaller frame.

In the quantity frame you can see what page you are working on, how many free frames you have left to fill, and the quality of the pictures you have used (good, average, bad).

Outlining the pictures

If a picture does not have the same proportions as the frame, part of the frame will remain blank. By using the outline buttons you can determine how you want to place your picture. You can choose left, middle, right, top, bottom. These buttons are also available in the word processor so you are able to outline the textbox in the same way.

This enables you to rotate the picture to the left or right.

You can zoom in and out on the pages.

Remove pictures

This enables you to remove a picture. It will then appear in the overview again and the filename will no longer be highlighted.

What will my product cost?

While you are making a product you can click on this button to view the actual price. A connection with the internet will be made to retrieve this information.

Edit pictures

Select a picture and click on this button if you want to make an edit.

After you have chosen the area, the picture will fit exactly into the frame. Check with page filling pictures if a white background or line is visible.

Select the folder where you have saved the pictures. Click on the first picture you want to select. Proceed by pressing the shift key and hold this until you have chosen the last picture with your mouse. Click OK to add the selected pictures to the list.

If you have to retrieve pictures from several folders repeat this action to add your selected pictures to the list.

Step 6: Automatically place a picture

The selected pictures in the overview can be sorted by name or date. Click on the column name to sort the pictures. They will be placed in the product based on the sorting of this list.

There are three buttons on the right hand side of the column. With the arrows you can move pictures in the list.

The button with the x will delete pictures from the list.

Click on “next >" if you are happy with the sorting of the pictures in the list, and they correspond with the image of the pictures.

This screen determines how the pictures will be placed in the product.

Step 6: Automatically place a picture

You are able to indicate where you want to place your first picture. For instance, if pictures have been placed already you can choose to start on a blank page.

Now choose how many pictures you want to place on a page. If no options are given you have already put too many pictures in the list. If this is the case to back to the previous screen and remove some pictures.

Now click on “finish” to place the pictures in the frame. After they have been entered you are able to move or cut out pictures, please read step 5 to check out all the available options..

Before you can order a product it needs to be saved, if you have not yet done so the Photo Fun Book Editor will automatically prompt you. Click on the order menu to open the screen.

You are obliged to enter your email address. Once you have successfully uploaded your product, you will receive an email with the instructions on how to order.

There are several ways of sending a product.

The quickest is to use the FTP method. However in some cases this can cause problems, due to firewall. If this is the case use the passive FTP connection, or choose the HTTP upload option.

Click on "OK" to send your album via the internet. The Album will be compressed and then sent. The time bar will show how much the sending of the product has progressed. If you have sent it successfully, you will get a confirmation on your screen.

After a successful upload you will receive an email with an order instruction.

  • In the email there is a link to the order page, follow the instructions in the email.
  • First select the colour of the chosen cover.
  • Select the amount of albums
  • Enter your address details
  • Do not forget to enter the right country

If you have a discount code you can enter this under the invitation code. The value of the code will be deducted from the total price.
